Review:

Cold Queen by K Webster was I wonderful revelation. With characters like Elzira and Yanna, you’ll definitely know that this is an adult spinoff of Frozen. I loved the great world-building of this book; especially how they have taken homage to Frozen but created a whole new thing altogether.

As the second book of the Sinister collection, this definitely did not disappoint. It has all the makings of a great medieval fantasy novel with its court intrigues, ice and fire powers, and zombie-like creatures called the damned.

Elzira and Ryke are one great couple. I usually don’t take much liking to a retelling but this is one great exception. It doesn’t alienate readers who loved the movie, but it can still stand alone on its own. And that’s what makes K Webster’s writing excellent in this novel. There was a perfect balance of steamy romance and fantasy.

I’ve read the first two books of the Sinister Collection and now I can’t wait to read the rest!

Review:

The last installment of the Guzzi twins is here, and it was all worth the wait. I first had a glimpse of Bene in his twin brother’s book. And I must admit, his broody and angsty attitude made me very intrigued about his story. All I can say is that it totally did not disappoint.

Bene and Vanna together are one hot combustible duo that will totally get you hooked until the very end. As per usual, Bethany-Kris wrote another great world-building novel that I can’t help but stay positively entranced.

I loved how she portrayed Bene’s identity crisis from setting himself apart from his twin brother’s identity. Bene’s search for unraveling his own identity and independence was so real and raw. I couldn’t help but root for him as he rose past his mistakes.

And I couldn’t get enough of Vanna either. Her story was one interwoven from a bitter feud of the past. That bitter family animosity has long been past to her. I was enthralled by the way she started to fall in love with Bene. Her motivations might have been based on lies and deceit but you can totally see that the love was real.

Vanna is the kind of complex character that you will just love and hate at the same time. Falling in love with the enemy has never been so bittersweet. And this book totally nailed it.

I cannot wait to read about the last book in the Guzzi legacy series. Marcus is up next!

SYNOPSIS

Chicago has never been more fun, or dangerous …

Sent away with his identical twin to get their wild ways under control, Beni Guzzi expects nothing to change. Same crap, new city, right? But if the boss of the Chicago mob can’t set the principes straight, then nothing will.

And then she rolls into town.

Stuck in a job that seems intent to keep her working behind a desk, August Rivera hopes a trip to the windy city for an assignment will make the magazine finally give her a spread. But getting to see her best friend, well, that’s just a bonus.

And then she sees him from across a club.

With a gang causing trouble for the Outfit, and a Capo’s crew in shambles, Beni has a million other things to focus on except the beautiful New Yorker who keeps finding her way into his bed. The thing is, when he’s with August, everything is better—easier.

Falling in love while handling family drama and mafia affairs is anything but simple … and in this business? It only takes a single mistake to lose it all.

That lesson can’t be taught, and it always comes too late.

Review:

The Guzzi men have taken my reading list by storm this year! The whole series by Bethany-Kris is just a gift that keeps on giving. And Beni is another masterpiece that I adored.

I loved the conflict between the twins and how they forged their own path in the life of organized crime. I loved how Beni was just the right kind of wild that will take you in a whirlwind romance and just sweep you off your feet. August is one extremely lucky girl and she’s as besotted as he was.

It was so fun to see how she kept him on his toes. I loved her strong and independent woman vibes. It’s something that I really look for in a heroine. And August totally fits the bill! She’s smart, driven, beautiful and she knows it. Most especially, she knows her worth. I especially loved the story about how she navigated through her career. It was something that made me love her character even more.

The twin’s dynamics (Beni and Bene) were explored in this book. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds in the next one.
