SYNOPSIS: When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.

Then I got the job and found out how wrong I was.

Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses.

Their father is the widowed King of Denmark.

And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.

Adjusting to my new life isn’t easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother.

It’s their father.

Cold, mysterious and moody, with an icy stare that seems to penetrate your soul, King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.

Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him. His chiseled face and sexual swagger are only part of the package. It’s in the long, intense glances at the dinner table, the way we’ll brush up against each other in the halls, the rare glimpses of the man deep inside, like the sun passing through clouds.

But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together.

You think it’s bad enough being in love with your boss?

Try falling in love with a king.

Review:

The continuation of Cross and Catherine’s story in Revere has set a nostalgic atmosphere between the two characters. Even after seven years of separation, their love still remained constant that it almost feels like it was just yesterday. This kind of reminiscent tone throughout the whole book has left me feeling even more invested in the story that I literally couldn’t put the book down the moment I finally got my copy!

I love how Bethany-Kris perfectly showed how Cross and Catherine have matured and became comfortable in their own skin. For Cross, he finally learned how to control his hot-headed temper to better prepare him for inheriting the boss’ seat of the Donati family. But what’s more remarkable was Catherine’s transformation. She has finally found her place in the world of organized crime and she was not apologetic for it, since she is still a Marcello after all.

I am absolutely thrilled about the way Bethany-Kris told their love story and how they grew into their own person. Following The Legacy Series is like watching your nieces and nephews grow up before your eyes. And seeing your favorite characters get the happily ever after they deserve is really the best thing about reading a romance novel.

Cross’ marriage proposal was probably one of the sweetest things I’ve read in all of romance novel history. It was a perfect nod to their entire romantic love story and their promise of Always. The memories that they shared growing up is something that they both cherished and after all that’s happened between them, they also used those shared memories to find a way back to each other. As cliche as it sounds, for Cross and Catherine, first love really never dies.

Unruly can’t come soon enough. I am so excited to see the life that these two built together. The principe and principessa all grown up and ruling their own kingdom. Need I say more?

I should’ve never agreed to this arrangement…

Thirty days ago, my boss–Mr. Wolf of Wall Street,  came to me with an offer I couldn’t refuse: Sign my name on the dotted line and pretend to be his fiancée for one month. If I agreed, he would let me out of my employment contract with a “very generous” severance package.

The rules were pretty simple: No intimate kissing, no actual sex. Just pretend to love each other for the press, even though I’ve secretly wanted to knock that sexy smirk off his face since the first day we met.

I definitely didn’t need to think twice about this. I signed my name and started counting down the seconds to when I would never have to deal with his special brand of ass-holery again.

I only made it to one minute…

We argued the entire four-hour flight to his hometown, failed to make a convincing impression with the welcoming press, and right when I was about to knock that arrogant look off his face in real life? He purposely dropped his bath towel in front of me, distracting me with his nine-inch cock to “show me who the bigger person was” in our relationship.  Then he gave me his trademark smirk once again and asked if I wanted to consummate our marriage.

Tragically, this is only day one.
We still have 29 more days to go…

Ayla

The darkness never truly left me. It’s always there, waiting for the right moment to strike.

It’s been months since I ran away from the nightmare that was slowly killing me. I ran for my life, straight into the arms of a man who I thought would be worse than the nightmare I’d left behind.

Little did I know he’d become my savior.

But my happy ending was ripped away from me in a blink of an eye. I had everything…and I lost everything.

Alessio

I didn’t believe in angels. But then I saw her. I touched her. I kissed her. I made love to her.

In return, she saved my soul.

I was no longer unlovable, because my Angel found it in her heart to love me.

I had her…and then I lost her.

But I will not stop until I find her.

Even if it means starting a war and spilling the blood of everyone who gets in my way.

I will find my Angel.

Alessio…

Cold. Ruthless. Killer.

I am respected and feared by all.

I wasn’t put on this earth to love or be loved. I was put here to wipe out every last member of the damn Abandonato mafia, to pay them back for my mother’s death.

When I find a strange girl hiding, beaten, under my bed, I don’t let her live out of compassion.
She’s a trinket, my plaything.

Ayla…

I thought Alessio was only one more man who wanted to use me, hurt me, and throw me away. I don’t know what it is to trust anymore. I can’t find my heart under the pain.

Alessio found it. He touched it, and brought it alive again.

But if he discovers just how dangerous I am to him…I’ll lose my life.

Review:

Secrets between Alessio and Ayla were finally unraveled. Lies, treachery, and deception were finally revealed. The second installment of Alessio and Ayla’s was nothing short of nerve-racking. I was constantly hooked on every chapter with all intrigues of mafia politics and of course, Alessio and Ayla’s budding romance.

Ayla was just starting to have a normal life until all of that was taken away by just one single treachery. When she was held captive again, Alessio went out of his way to look for her. His valiant efforts to save her just proved how much he really loves her. Even after all these months of searching, he never gave up and he always believed that Ayla would come back to him.

What sets this series apart is the courageous portrayal of trauma victims. The author’s remarkable depiction of Ayla’s abuse showed raw emotions that will just make you weep and sympathize with her character. That cliffhanger moment when Alessio finally found Ayla made my heart skip a beat. I’m looking forward for the next installment of this series and on how Alessio and Ayla will finally pick up the pieces of their lives back together.

Another thing that I like about this series is the storyline about Maddie, Artur, and Phoenix. The varying point of views from the different characters made the book even more interesting. It made me all the more invested in the story and I just can’t wait to read the next one!

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

His list of sins reached a new high today but Noah McLean doubted God was still counting. When you kill people, move drugs around, and spend years screwing everything that moves, daydreaming of fucking Gia by the baptismal fountain at Holy Angels was minor. Minuscule. Modest.

Yet, he breathed better out and away from the house of worship.

The room had shrunk around him then, as did his bedroom now. And his pants. Gia stared out of the window and at the river view like she hadn’t seen it thousands of times. Not from your room.

“I guess it’s just normal to pop a federal agent and baptize children in the same hour.” Noah alternated between brooding and staring at Gia’s ass. He struggled to choose the less painful option.

Her marvelous ass, high on sculpted thighs, claimed his attention more. The view was obscured only by the pearly smile she shot him over her shoulder. It took over her face, her eyes, and his mood. Gia was a sharp ray of light in days filled with shadows.

“Agent Davies had it coming,” she said.

“Not disagreeing, but what the fuck are a bunch of criminals doing in church like devoted members of a parish?”

“Just because we do what’s necessary, it doesn’t make us bad people. Davies sold himself to our enemy. It’s his fault Carissa had to run and Nelly’s dead.” Her voice dropped at the end. The pain echoed still too fresh, her words only half accurate.

“Sebastian’s the one that killed Nelly.” God. Those words would always be a punch to his gut.

“Everyone will eventually get what’s coming to them.” She turned from the window and crossed the room in a few precise steps. “I hate this. We have better things to focus on.” Her breathy tone came laden with promises.

Noah’s world tilted and turned itself to face the sun, yanking him back into the moment, his room, where they were alone. His head, his body, his interest, his dick. Every part of him strained to salute her.

“You are a cocky, arrogant asshole and I sincerely wish you misery for the rest of your life…PS–You weren’t *that* damn sexy… “

Those were the last lines I wrote in Jace Kennedy’s yearbook before graduating high school.

Enemies from the moment we met, we went out of our way to avoid each other whenever we could. And in the moments that we couldn’t? Our heated arguments were strong enough to light the world on fire.

He was an all-star prick. Plain and simple.

I was a “band geek with fugly-ass braces.” (Not true at all.)

Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to leave him and our small hometown of Blue Harbor behind.

Now that it’s ten years later, I’ve graduated from Harvard Law at the top of my class, and I’m working at the firm of my dreams. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, surrounded by new loyal friends, and ready to compete for the lead lawyer position.

Until I find out that Jace Kennedy graduated from law school, too.

Until I realize that he’ll be working at the same exact firm, in the office right across from me.

And if that isn’t unfortunate enough, he’s far sexier and way more arrogant than I originally remembered. (Oh, and last night he moved in next door…)

Review:

Book Quote Bethany-Kris Always

Cross x Catherine.
True love written in mafia blood.
This is not your typical coming of age love story. Always showed how the tribulations and heartaches of first loves are told amidst the world of the Mafia. It is absolutely wonderful and so brilliantly written that I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book already!

I have always been a fan of the novels of Bethany-Kris and each release is always marked in my calendar. But Cross and Catherine’s series are probably the one I anticipated most this year. My interest in Cross and Catherine was piqued way back when the Legacy Prequel Novella was published. The convergence of the Mafia world in this series is absolutely amazing and I’ve always admired the story continuity in all of Bethany-Kris’ works. You will see your favorite characters from the Filthy Marcellos and Donati Bloodlines series, but at the same time, the story cleverly unfolds in a way that you don’t have to read the previous series to get immersed in Bethany-Kris’ mafia world.  Let me tell you though, once you get your hands on one book, you’ll probably crave reading the other series as well.

I was so lucky to receive the ARC copy of this one and I started reading it right away. I probably re-read the novels five times by now and for every single re-read, I have always found something to bookmark and highlight in the novel. Because yes, it is THAT GOOD!

Up until my third re-read, I was convinced that Cross and Catherine met too soon. If they have met a little later and have matured on their own, maybe they would have handled their relationship better. Especially for Catherine, whose fear of being a disappointment to her parents became a huge factor growing up. I thought that they had become so dependent on each other at such a very young age. And that made it difficult for them to mature and forge their way to the world on their own.

But after reading it for the fifth time, I scratched that thought entirely. Because I realized that when it comes to Cross x Catherine, they are each other’s ALWAYS. It’s not a case of “if it’s meant to be, it will be” kind of love story because at the end of the day, this couple will ALWAYS be meant to be.

Cross always had a sort of hero complex when it comes to Catherine. Their sweet yet peculiar meet-cute is probably a testament of that. With his dark eyes, bruised knuckles and bloody mouth, Cross instantly made a mark to Catherine and since then, their love was inevitable. All throughout their teenage years, Cross has always been Catherine’s knight in shining armor.

That’s why it was so heartbreaking to see the moment towards the end of the novel when Cross finally realized that he is unable to save Catherine from herself, no matter how much he loves her. What’s reassuring though is the fact that despite everything that they’ve been through, it was their love for each other that remained constant. I cannot wait to see the older and more mature versions of Cross and Catherine in the next book, Revere! November 6th can’t come soon enough!

The Boy I Hate by Taylor Sullivan ARC Review

ARC Review The Boy I Hate By Taylor Sullivan

The Boy I Hate
Taylor Sullivan
Publication Date: August 12, 2017
Genres: New Adult, Romance

Samantha Smiles and Renee Montgomery have been best friends for over a decade. They’ve shared laughs, secrets, and a mutual hatred for one person: Tristan Montgomery, Renee’s older brother. He was the guy every girl wanted, and every guy wanted to be, and it wasn’t uncommon they’d befriend his little sister just to get closer to him. Which was exactly how Samantha became Renee’s saving grace. She was the only girl Renee could trust not to fall in love with her older brother.

Until the one night Samantha spent with him alone, leaving her questioning everything she’d ever known about the blond headed heart-throb.

Years later, Renee asks Samantha to be her maid of honor. With no other option, Samantha is forced to drive cross-country with the focus of their teenage ire.

He was her first kiss.

Her only secret.

Can Samantha survive the trip cross-country with the reckless Tristan Montgomery? The guy who did what he wanted, whenever he wanted, without worry for tomorrow? Or will she discover a different side of him. One that’s sweet, funny, and maybe a little bit vulnerable. And fall completely and helplessly in love for the first time in her adult life with the one man who could cause her to lose her best friend forever?

Review:

Taylor Sullivan The Boy I Hate Book Quote

Sammie and Tristan’s story is about giving love a second chance. The plot was wonderfully laid out between their past and present encounters. Their road trip to New York was a sort of serendipitous moment that gave them an opportunity to reconnect and reconcile their childhood memories with the present.

I loved how the author portrayed Sammie’s struggle with her career. I think women in their 20s can totally relate with the pressure of finding a stable job as opposed to pursuing their passion. She was at that point in her life when it seems like all her best laid plans in life were at a standstill. With her best friend moving to New York a few months back, she no longer had a steady support system that she can rely on. Plus, her career-driven boyfriend is not so reliable either.

It was really amazing to see how her road trip to New York with Tristan has put her life in perspective.  It also gave her a chance to give The Boy She Hates another chance. After six long years of separation, both of them have matured enough to finally admit their feelings for each other. Realizing how toxic her relationship was with her ex-boyfriend was just another icing on the cake. I think she forced herself to be attracted to Steven 6 years ago just because her romance with Tristan didn’t pan out. And due to her own insecurities, she didn’t want to admit to herself that being with Steven is not right for her.

Overall, The Boy I Hate is one great romance that showed how the characters have developed from lovestruck teens to mature adults in the span of six years. Despite the odds, they still found a way to find their way back to each other.

But he’d already been drunk before she walked in so there was a good chance she might not be as stunning and perfect as he thinks. He’s just too drunk to worry about that.

The next morning, he swears he can still smell her on his skin. He just can’t remember why or what happened after that third dance.

Their worlds are about to collide, and so are the secrets and lies.

Book Quote Because of Lila by Abbi Glines

I gotta say that this book has got me so hooked that I finished it in one seating! I love the way it kept me on my toes while I ardently wished for our young heroine, Lila Kate, to FINALLY end up with the man she truly deserves from the very beginning.

When I first read the excerpt, I was a bit disappointed that Lila gave up on her first love – Cruz, the young Kerrington Country Club heir. Oops, that was some serious plot twist right there!

I guess it really takes a lot of maturity to be able to finally step up, admit your feelings and be a freaking man! I love how Abbi Glines showed how the characters were able to grow out of their stereotypes – the classic bad boy trust fund baby, the prim and proper Southern lady, and the guy suffering from unrequited love.

The intertwining POVs of the three main characters were so on point that it got me so invested with each of their own stories. Lila Kate’s plight for finding a sense of purpose while throwing away her goody-two-shoes persona was really a delight to read. Her own insecurities and vulnerabilities made her so relatable to all those twenty-something girls who really just want to figure out the “adulting” thing on their own.

Cruz was a character that will really grow on you. I wanted to scream at him from the pages of the book because of the callous way he treated Lila in the past. But I grew to love him later on. It turns out that he just needed a shove in the right direction to finally realize that he can be the perfect guy for her. He actually owned up to his mistakes in the end. And with Lila Kate by his side, he had actually succeeded in balancing the pressures of being the heir of the country club and being his own person.

The growth of Eli Hardy’s character is probably the most interesting subplot of this book. Through Lila Kate, he finally realized that the feelings he had for Bliss York was just an idealized love. Bliss was his dream girl and it took a girl like Lila Kate for him to see that the version of love he felt for Bliss was an emotion born out of childhood familiarity. Eli was the perfect boy-next-door. His perceptiveness gave his character the depth that will tug your heartstrings. He had been the perfect friend for both Bliss and Lila when they needed a friend to vent out their complicated love lives. It takes a genuinely kind and thoughtful guy to be able to comfort these women and then still choose to remain in the “just friends” category. That’s what made me love him even more. I can’t wait for Abbi to tell Eli’s story. He deserves his own HEA!

Like a Memory by Abbi Glines

Like A Memory
Abbi Glines
Genre: Romance
Publication Date: February 14, 2017

One memory.
One special summer.
The one thing Bliss had lost herself in when the fear and sickness were too much, moments never to be damaged by the harsh reality that followed… until now.

Bliss York didn’t live a normal teenage life. She didn’t go to Friday night football games, walk the halls with her friends every day, go to her prom or even walk to receive her diploma. It had all been taken from her the fall that she was fifteen years old and she was given the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear.

She had leukemia.

Seven years after spending a summer with a girl who he knew would always be his first love and the one who got away, Nate Finlay returns to Sea Breeze to help his fiancé open her new boutique clothing store. When the new employee walks in Nate is taken back seven years to the girl he thought he’d love forever. The one who never answered his calls or returned his text. The one who shut him out completely with not even a goodbye and broke his heart.

They’ve each become someone different. No longer the young teens with stars in their eyes. But does that matter when your heart still says that’s the one.

Review:

Like a Memory is quintessentially Abbi Glines at her best. Here, we started to get a glimpse of the characters that we loved best from the Rosemary Beach and Sea Breeze Series. The book together with the characters within it have given just a right amount of nostalgia to capture readers like me who has been waiting for this story since the epilogue of Until the End.

It was interesting to see how the characters have grown up and lived their happily ever afters. Their life wasn’t romanticized and each family had their own tribulations. What’s even more interesting to note is the upbringing that each of the families had. To see how our beloved characters had grown up and raised their children gave us a glimpse of how stable millenial families are starting to grow up and create a family on their own.

What captured my attention, however, is the special kind of love story that Nate and Bliss had. As cliche as it may sound, first love really never dies. Even after all this time, reconnecting with your first love and rekindling your romance is nothing short of magical in this book.

I love how Bliss and Eli’s friendship is a parallel to the very own friendship of their parents (Cage and Harlow). I think their special kind of devotion to each other transcends beyond friendship. They’re like soulmates in a purely platonic matter. Bliss was a lucky girl to find a pseudo knight-in-shining-armor like Eli when she was battling cancer during her teenage years.

I can’t wait for the next installment of Sea Breeze x Rosemary Beach series! We still have a lot of characters we need to catch up on as they unravel their own HEA.
